We had a client in Ankeny, IA, reach out to our team to bring their dream outdoor living space to fruition. They have a good-sized backyard where they wanted a new pool as the main element. So, we got to work installing it, along with an automatic pool cover. After that, we built a paver patio that serves as the pool deck, where they can lounge by the water. We also extended the patio to have a designated area for a fire pit! Then, to finish off this pool installation project, we incorporated charming landscape beds with a rock ground cover and small plants. The First Step of This Project Was to Install the Pool

The first step of this project was to install the main feature: the pool! Our client wanted a minimalist design with no frills, so we built a sleek, rectangular pool with a sun shelf for relaxing in shallower water and steps leading into the deeper portion so they can enjoy the best of both depths. We also incorporated an automatic pool cover, allowing them to easily cover it as needed.

Different materials are available for constructing pools, including fiberglass, gunite, and vinyl liner.

Next, we constructed a paver patio around the pool and a fire pit.

Once the pool was complete, we moved on to the next phase of this project, which included a paver patio that serves as a pool deck. We carefully placed different-sized pavers in an eye-catching pattern to create an area around the pool where our client can lounge. A thin, discreet border was also made around the pool using darker-colored pavers to emphasize its shape.

A separate section of the patio that connects to the pool deck was built, perfect for the fire pit they wanted to add! We used larger paving stones to create a clear distinction from the pool deck area of the patio, though it still matched the overall aesthetic they wanted to achieve. Then, a modern-style rectangular fire pit was installed in the middle so they can enjoy fireside warmth during chilly evenings.

We Put the Finishing Touches on Our Client's New Pool Area With Landscaping

With all the main elements of this pool installation project done, all that was left to do was to put the finishing touches on our client's pool area. This involved installing landscape beds along both sides of the fire pit section and one corner of the pool deck. Then, we filled them with gray rocks as the ground cover and different types of small plants throughout. Not only did these beds blend some pops of color and softscaping elements into their pool area, but they also complemented the overall style to ensure cohesiveness. Now, our client can maximize their backyard space, staying cool during the summer with their new, sleek pool and extending their enjoyment into the cooler months with the fire pit.
